The initial page shown when you have first logged-in to Patient Access allows you to review your appointments, request repeat medications, see who your linked pharmacy is and search for general health advice, among other things.
Note: Although you can see your GP appointments, you cannot make them through Patient Access, even though there is a "Book New Appointment" button on the Home Page! To make a new GP appointment or other request, you need to use PATCHs.
All other options are accessed via the Menu. On a mobile or tablet, this can be opened from a "Menu" button at the top left of the page. On a computer, the menu will already be visible down the left hand side of the page.
You will see a list of available menu options. You can make changes to your profile settings by clicking/tapping on your name at the top of the menu.
Note: Despite there being a "Book Appointment" option, if you click/tap on it you will be taken to a page which will tell you that there are none available via Patient Access. This is because your GP has elected to use PATCHs for booking and managing appointments.
Probably the most important item for most people will be the "Medical Record" option. Clicking/tapping on this will open a sub-menu with numerous items you can then choose from.
Most of the items are self-explanatory although you may find that some things may not be where you might expect to find them. For example, COVID or flu vaccinations and boosters may appear under "Immunisations", "Medications" or even "Consulations" depending on where they were administered.
Tip: If you don't see the "Medical Records" option, this may be because your GP has not enabled this feature for you. You will need to make a request to get the feature enabled. This may require you to complete a form at your GP surgery before access will be granted.
In general, hospital treatment and tests will not appear in your GP Medical Record, unless for example the hospital has sent a letter to your GP or you've had a blood test requested by the hospital and you've had it done at your GP for convenience.
Your hospital care records will be in a separate linked system, for example Patients Know Best ⧉.
